Sussex Taps
When one of Australia’s most highly regarded tapware brands, Sussex Taps, reached out, we were immediately excited. Tapware tends to sit high on the ‘bucket list’ for many designers and the chance to collaborate with a company renowned for its precision, craft and deep commitment to local manufacturing was a huge motivator.The opportunity exceeded our expectations: to help design a flagship product for Sussex’s new wellness brand, Aura Water. The tap set needed to be sophisticated and indicative of a Sussex style product, but with added features to deliver a new, health and wellness focused UX.

Technically clever and beautiful
The new Aura product is a 3-in-1 mixer that needed to deliver hot, cold and filtered alkaline water at the touch of a button. It also had to include a pull-out hose and lever handle for easy everyday functions.
Katapult’s designers worked closely with Sussex’s engineering team to seamlessly incorporate these technical requirements, design for manufacture and deliver a beautiful aesthetic.

Sussex has built its reputation on precision, premium materials and local manufacturing. Their tap ranges carry weight, both physically and symbolically. So, when we approached the design, it was with a deep respect for that legacy.
Our goal was to capture the essence of Sussex, refined forms, honest materials, considered details, while introducing a more contemporary, UX-led approach that signals a new chapter for the brand.
Scalable by Design
Beyond this product, we saw an opportunity to help lay the groundwork for Aura Water’s long-term commercial success. The design sets the pathway for future product variants that will allow Aura Water to build out a broader range, ensuring brand consistency, manufacturing efficiency and allowing room for growth.
