Refining an Icon
Fliteboard is renowned in the industry for having the most beautiful boards, but the secret to their success is more than skin deep. Surfaces, volumes and plan shapes are carefully considered to provide less drag, better lift off and touch down performance. Series 3 is no exception. The sleek rail design, recessed deck grip and simplified nose geometry provide a contemporary styling update, but our team also worked hard to retain the high performance chines and tail section that typifies Fliteboard. The result is gorgeous and fast!
Evolving Features
As brands mature they’re continually chasing improvements. For Series 3 the challenge was to deliver performance and appearance improvements. Katapult worked with Fliteboard to develop a new range of titanium battery housings, improving heat dissipation, reducing weight and gaining production efficiencies. The new smaller, lighter Nano battery became an integral part of the release of new and hugely successful Ultra L, the world’s lightest and most agile performance eFoil.
New moulded handles were developed to provide a more integrated, durable solution to an often overlooked feature. In combination with the custom designed deck grips, Fliteboard riders now have the best grip that money can buy on their boards.
Prototype, Test & Refine
From it’s inception, Fliteboard has been about product testing. Katapult worked closely with Fliteboard’s in-house team to build prototypes with increasing levels of fidelity so that new innovations could be tested and refined. Team riders put the boards through their paces, often pushing beyond the limits and breaking things, so that when the new features finally hit the market they are fully validated for safety, reliability and performance. No stone is left unturned to ensure customers get the best possible user experience.
