Leatherback GMT Watch
Gowings Pacific Trader
Sometimes a special project comes along and our team just jump at the chance to be involved. The Gowings Pacific Trader Leatherback GMT was one such opportunity. John Gowing came to Katapult with a clear vision and an open mind. Create a truly world class dive watch that celebrates the proud legacy of Gowings.

History Re-imagined
In 1914 Gowings commissioned the beautiful brass Austral Fob Watch as a gift for any company staff who volunteered for service in WW1. More than a 110 years later we designed the distinctive square shaped Leatherback GMT as a homage to that heroic past.
The new design is crafted from superlight Grade 5 titanium, waterproof to 300m and featuring a GMT movement, allowing you to track two time zones simultaneously.
Swiss Craftsmanship
In addition to designing the style and format of the Leatherback GMT watch, Katapult was tasked with sourcing a suitable supplier for the mechanism, watch case and straps.
We researched and shortlisted candidates and then selected a preferred partner after interviewing and testing our preferred groups with prototype runs. This resulted in a trusted partnership between Gowings and a proven, certified Swiss watch supplier to deliver the highest quality, bespoke outcome.
Feature driven for a cause
Beyond it’s obvious family resemblance to the Austral Fob Watch the Leatherback GMT has a selection of very specific features that help position it correctly in the dive watch market.
The Sellita SW330 automatic movement, the premium Swiss BGW9 Super LumiNova finish for visibility in the dark, the Saphire Crystal with AR coating and the 4 different strap variants – Nato, Canvas, Rubber and Titanium bracelet – all help ensure the watch is a premium product.
In addition, the stunning Gowings Whale Trust branding and custom engraved individual numbering makes each Leatherback GMT a personalised purchase, with the added bonus of supporting a wonderful charity.
