Manufacturers with low robotics literacy are often excluded from automation by systems that are complex, intimidating and costly to deploy. By creating a modular robotic platform that could operate in harsh industrial environments while remaining visually friendly, easy to install and economically viable. The opportunity lay in defining both a new product category and a new brand, one that balanced industrial toughness with approachability and scalability with simplicity.
Built for real factory floors
Katapult Design worked closely with Workr to define the product architecture, industrial design and overall system language. Our approach centred on modularity, ease of use and visual cohesion. The system is designed to ship preassembled, install rapidly and adapt to multiple applications through a shared platform. Every design decision balanced durability, cost efficiency and clarity, ensuring the product could scale from early production through high volume deployment without losing identity or usability.
Approachable brand identity
Workr was positioned as a dependable teammate rather than a futuristic machine. The brand and product were shaped to speak clearly to two audiences, decision makers seeking reliability and return on investment, and operators who need tools that are simple, friendly and trustworthy. The visual and verbal language reinforces this positioning, industrial yet warm, robust yet approachable, presenting automation as an everyday part of the workforce rather than a disruptive technology.
The platform enables fast deployment, flexible configuration and a recognisable product family, allowing manufacturers to adopt automation with confidence and scale as their needs grow.
